Steve Skolnik recently became Of Counsel to Jones Mayer. Mr. Skolnik has practiced law in California continuously since 1979 and has specialized in representing cities and redevelopment agencies throughout his entire legal career. He has served as City Attorney for the City of Santa Fe Springs and as the attorney for its redevelopment agency continuously since 1986. He has served as City Attorney for the City of Lakewood continuously since 2004 and also serves as the attorney for its redevelopment agency. Previously, he represented the City of Huntington Park and its redevelopment agency in a variety of capacities, including City Attorney for 11 years and Agency Attorney for 11 years, over a span of more than 23 years. Mr. Skolnik also has acted as Special Counsel for more than a dozen additional California cities or redevelopment agencies.
During the course of his career, Mr. Skolnik has acted as Lead Attorney in more than 40 trials leading to jury verdicts. He also has successfully argued cases in several California appellate districts and in the Ninth Circuit of the federal appellate court system.
Mr. Skolnik is experienced in all aspects of municipal law practice and has particular expertise in redevelopment matters and in other matters involving development or land use issues.
