Ms. Ballard joined the litigation team at Jones Mayer in 2016 after managing a statewide legal team for a major insurance company and working at a large national insurance defense firm. Ms. Ballard’s litigation practice at Jones Mayer focuses on personal injury, civil rights in state and federal court, property damage, inverse condemnation, and injunctive relief. Ms. Ballard also helps city clients enforce professional services agreements against defaulting parties. With a strong background in risk transfer and indemnity rights, Ms. Ballard also advises Firm clients on transactional matters.
Ms. Ballard successfully extricated public entities from litigation through motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. Her early analysis of applicable governmental immunities and the procedural requirements of the Government Claims Act has resulted in many early case dismissals. Ms. Ballard also handles matters through appellate review and recently obtained a Ninth Circuit decision upholding a favorable summary judgment ruling in a civil rights matter.
Ms. Ballard attended the University of Connecticut and obtained a bachelor of arts degree in sociology in 1991. In 1996, Ms. Ballard obtained a J.D. from California Western School of Law.
Ms. Ballard is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in California.
