FULLERTON, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2026) — Jones Mayer is marking its 50th year by growing. Jones Mayer and Carpenter, Rothans & Dumont LLP (CRD), a Los Angeles firm that has defended California public entities for 32 years, are combining their practices, effective Jan. 1, 2027. The combined firm of 65 lawyers will operate as Jones Mayer, with offices in Fullerton, Brea, Los Angeles and Citrus Heights.

A natural fit

It is a natural fit. Jones Mayer advises cities, counties, special districts and law enforcement agencies on municipal law, police defense, labor and employment, code enforcement and receiverships. CRD brings over three decades of courtroom experience defending those same agencies, and many of the firms’ clients already overlap.

“Fifty years in, we are still growing,” said Richard Jones, Managing Partner of Jones Mayer. “Our mission has not changed: we represent public agencies, and only public agencies. Steve Rothans and his team share that mission, and together we bring more services, more reach and more depth to every client.”

Our focus now is on the next 50 years and continuing to excel in this field.

Ryan Jones, President

“Our focus now is on the next 50 years and continuing to excel in this field,” said Ryan Jones, President of Jones Mayer. “Public agencies face more litigation every year, and with CRD our clients will receive even more high-quality litigation support. CRD’s clients will keep the lawyers they trust, now with the full support of Jones Mayer.”

One firm, from advice through trial

The combination gives clients one public-sector firm for advice, prevention and litigation, with offices in Southern and Northern California. Clients of both firms keep the attorneys and staff they know, with no interruption, as Jones Mayer expands its presence throughout the state.

Clients can read the letter from Richard Jones and Ryan Jones about what this means for them.
