On July 5, 2016, The Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, ruled in the City’s favor on an Writ of Mandate case.
Rudy Castaneda received multiple parking tickets from the Whittier Police Department for illegally parking his vehicle on the streets of the City of Whittier. In response to the citations, Castaneda filed a Petition for Writ of Mandate in the Superior Court against the City. Jones & Mayer attorney Denise Rocawich succeeded in obtaining a dismissal of the Petition prior to trial. Castaneda then appealed the dismissal to the Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District. After review of both Castaneda’s and the City’s Briefs, the Court of Appeal issued an Opinion denying Castaneda’s appeal. In its Opinion, the Court of Appeal agreed with the City’s positions on virtually every issue raised.
