Jones Mayer Welcomes New Partners

Jones Mayer is pleased to announce the elevation of six attorneys to the Firm’s partnership, effective August 1. Each of the professionals listed below has demonstrated a commitment to serving the public with hard work, diligence, and integrity. Their leadership and dedication to our clients will be welcome additions to the partnership.

Baron Bettenhausen

Mr. Bettenhausen’s career is devoted to service on behalf of public agencies throughout California. He serves as a city attorney for the City of California City in Kern County, as deputy city attorney for various California public agencies, and primary legal advisor to numerous Southern California planning commissions. Mr. Bettenhausen is a member of the California State Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the California Supreme Court. At Jones Mayer, his practice focuses on municipal law, contracts, land use, and estate planning. His expertise on application of the Brown Act has served the Firm, our clients, and our community especially well.

Jamaar Boyd-Weatherby

Mr. Boyd-Weatherby joined Jones Mayer in 2008, a few short years after earning his law degree from U.C. Berkeley School of Law. Since joining the Firm, he has developed specialties in litigation, labor and employment, and code enforcement. He also serves municipal clients as a deputy city prosecutor. In addition, Mr. Boyd-Weatherby has worked as a trainer in the Lawyers Without Borders, Liberia Project, and was designated a SuperLawyers Southern California Rising Star Attorney on five separate occasions.

Keith Collins

Mr. Collins joined Jones Mayer shortly after graduating from Whittier Law School in 2012. Since that time, he has focused his practice on municipal law and on representing law enforcement agencies. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Collins serves as the City Attorney for Fort Bragg and the Assistant City Attorney in La Habra. Mr. Collins spends a considerable amount of time providing training (on topics including ethics and sexual harassment prevention) to various public agencies throughout the state. His particular knowledge of cannabis prohibition and permitting schemes, and dedication to providing client-focused guidance to municipal clients have served as assets to the firm and its clients.

Gary S. Kranker

Since joining Jones Mayer in 2010, Mr. Kranker has primarily practiced civil litigation and resolution of homelessness issues for Jones Mayer’s clients. Throughout his career, Mr. Kranker has successfully tried personal injury, breach of contract, and municipal law cases concerning various subject matters. After earning his law degree from Whittier College School of Law in 1989, he spent 13 years as a senior trial attorney at Safeco Insurance Company. While at Safeco, he handled all aspects of his cases – from inception through appeal. This experience has molded his approach to the practice of law while at Jones Mayer and has improved the client experience ten-fold.

Krista MacNevin Jee

Ms. Jee has been a trusted member of the Jones Mayer team for over 20 years. She primarily practices complex civil and appellate litigation, land use, and the California Environmental Quality Act.  She is a Certified Appellate Law Specialist. Additionally, she acts as deputy city attorney for various municipalities, is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts within the State of California and is admitted to practice in the state courts of Texas and the United States Supreme Court. As a deputy city attorney, Ms. Jee advises public servants in all areas of municipal law, from elections to public works and employment to police litigation. In addition to her stellar professional accomplishments, Ms. Jee is an accomplished runner and a dedicated mother.

Denise Rocawich

Ms. Rocawich dedicated her practice to litigation and appellate law immediately following her degree from Loyola Law School. Admitted to all four U.S. District Courts in California, The California Supreme Court, The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and The U.S. Supreme Court, Ms. Rocawich represents municipalities and police departments throughout California at both the state and federal levels. Since joining Jones Mayer in 2010, Ms. Rocawich’s dedicated and vigorous defense of police departments has been a particularly noteworthy achievement.
