Mr. Kranker is the Partner in charge of overseeing all non-police-related civil litigation at the Firm.
Mr. Kranker attended the University of California, Riverside, and obtained a bachelor of science degree in both economics and administrative studies in 1986. In 1989, Mr. Kranker obtained a J.D. from Whittier College School of Law. In 1988, Mr. Kranker was selected to represent his law school at the Jessup International Moot Court in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In his 33-year career, Mr. Kranker has tried cases involving personal injuries, premises liability, breach of contract, and landlord/tenant issues. Mr. Kranker joined Jones Mayer in July 2010. Mr. Kranker’s litigation success also includes one published appellate decision, which he argued in front of the court of appeals in Maddox v. Costa Mesa, 193 Cal. App. 4th 1098 (2011).
Mr. Kranker represented multiple Orange County cities in connection with a lawsuit brought by the Orange County Catholic Worker against the County of Orange and many of its cities. The case sought injunctions against enforcement of ordinances preventing camping in parks and the public right of way due to lack of shelter space. Mr. Kranker was active in negotiating resolutions for many of the defendants and prospective defendants.
Prior to joining Jones Mayer, Mr. Kranker worked for Safeco Insurance Company as a Senior Trial Attorney for 13 years. While at Safeco, Mr. Kranker handled all aspects of his cases from inception through appeal matters. Mr. Kranker also has significant experience with construction defect litigation and construction contract disputes. He has also done significant environmental and toxic tort coverage litigation.
