Kristi J. Smith is a senior counsel with Jones Mayer. Ms. Smith worked for the City of Riverside for 19 years as a chief assistant city attorney during the 5 years preceding. During her last year with the City of Riverside, Ms. Smith served in the capacity as the interim city attorney. Prior to her tenure with Riverside, Ms. Smith worked for Chicago Title Insurance Company as an underwriting counsel and claims counsel. Ms. Smith has experience in all aspects of municipal law, including Public Records Act, Brown Act, and Surplus Land Act. Ms. Smith’s experience has focused on land use and development and agreements associated with real property transactions. She has been an integral part in preparing and adopting general plans and general plan EIRs, housing elements, specific plans, and community plans, including associated CEQA review of those projects. Ms. Smith has prepared and reviewed ordinances, resolutions, development agreements, real estate contracts, and public works contracts.

Ms. Smith attended San Diego State University and obtained a bachelor of science degree in political science in 1981. In 1984, Ms. Smith obtained a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law.
