Michael Verska is an Associate in the Litigation Department of Jones Mayer, having joined the Firm in April, 2024.

Prior to moving over to Jones Mayer, Mr. Verska was Senior Deputy City Attorney for the City of Riverside defending the City in medium to high exposure matters, including officer involved shootings, alleged excessive force, wrongful termination, subrogation, dangerous condition of public property, public works contract litigation, and inverse condemnation suits from claim process through jury trial. Mr. Verska obtained a first chair jury trial defense verdict for Riverside Police Department and its distinguished officer in a high exposure auto versus pedestrian lawsuit.

He preceded his work at City of Riverside as an associate in the firm of Berman, Berman, Berman, Schneider & Lowary in insurance defense of medium to high exposure lawsuits in matters including personal injury, premises liability, products liability, private nuisance, and sexual abuse litigation.

He preceded his work at the Berman firm as an Associate at Anderson, McPharlin & Conners in complex civil litigation defense of construction developers, contractors, and property owners in high exposure breach of contract, fraud suspect, mechanic’s lien, stop notice, lien priority, and related matters.

Mr. Verska received his Juris Doctorate from University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas in 1999 with Honors in Legal Research and was awarded “Best Brief” in Legal Writing.

He has been admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in California; has argued before the Fourth District California Appellate Court in a published opinion; and drafted briefs in the same matter before the California Supreme Court.
