The Passing of Peter L. Wallin

Jones Mayer mourns the passing of Peter L. Wallin who passed away on July 25, 2022.

Peter was extraordinary, not just as an attorney, but as a human being. No matter the circumstances, he approached each day and each problem with the most positive of attitudes and lived life to its fullest.

Peter graduated from Boalt Hall in 1967 and actually got his start in the legal profession as a Legal Aid attorney and then started suing redevelopment agencies over abuses on behalf of his clients. In 1973 a new municipal law firm was formed which eventually became Wallin, Kress, Reisman & Kranitz (WKRK). Peter became General and Special Counsel for numerous Redevelopment Agencies in Southern California, as well as City Attorney for Rosemead, Bell Gardens and Gardena. Peter was beloved by all who worked with him – from junior staff to elected officials. Everyone was treated to Peter’s warmth.

In late 2019 Peter decided to step back from his role of City Attorney of Gardena and the partners of WKRK became of counsel to Jones Mayer. Despite only being with Jones Mayer a relatively short time, Peter was always quick to lend a helping hand where he had expertise.

Peter’s legal mind, as well as his friendship and kindness, will be missed by all.
